I did do a search but didn't find exactly what i was looking for. new to the whole game, just bought my first one last week and have yet to take it out for a long period of time. i got it from my grandmothers boyfriend, its a 1994 seadoo xp that has about 30 hours on it. he never rode it, took it in for service every year but had no use for it. i got the ski, lift, and trailer, cover, straps, oil and gas for 1500.00.

i bought it to pull behind my new boat, but i'm reading you need to clamp off a hose to pull it safely and not swamp it. i know virtually nothing about the ski, except this little detail that i just discovered.

first, what do i use to clamp it off? will something like small vice grips do the job or should i use something else? if so, where do i buy that something else?

second, and most important, where on the engine is this hose that we talk of? and does it matter at what point on the hose i clamp it off?

thanks for your help

Towing....

When towing the watercraft over 15 mph, the pump nozzle will create enough pressure to supply water to your engine and exhaust system. If you don't have the engine running, that water will build in the exhaust and dump into the engine.

You need to clamp the line (visegrips will work) where it comes in from the jet pump, going to your cooling system. The 787'cc engine; the water line comes in and attaches to the head on the port (left) side. Other engines like the 717'cc has a "t" and it splits off to the engine and exhaust. So, it's best to find where it comes in from the hull and pinch it there.

The one thing to concider is if you just line towing it it will fishtail over the place if you pull it faster than 15 mph. You really need to harness it and have it solid to the boat to go faster than that.
