Tour vs Sport mode

I have a 2010 RXP which has a "feature" that lets the ski accellerate at a more gentle rate called "touring mode". You can change it to "sport mode" which let's the ski operate to it's full potential. Both modes are nice for different reasons and it is a valuable feature. But what irks me is that when key comes off (like when you fall), the system returns back to touring mode.

There is a quick set function to return it to sport mode, but you have to do that every time you fall off.

Does anyone know how to have the ski remain in the current mode when the key comes off? At least for the normal key?

Is that a safty feature? seeing how sport mode injects more fuel. or can u start it up in sport mode when you first crank her over?

Correction - the model is an RXT (215 HP - three seater, w/o suspension seat).

You can only activate sport mode after the engine is running.

Touring mode is more of a gradual excelleration option. When switched to sport mode the display warns to tell the passengers to hold on. I believe the two modes were part of the iControl functionallity. I don't know if it is done mechanically by retarding the spark, or limiting the fuel injection or what. The end result is touring mode is just a more gradual excelleration that reaches full power at a slower rate, while sport mode is what I have been accustomed to with other PWC - full power from the second you start the engine.

Then i would say that starting it up in sport is for the reason of not blowing up ur ski when u start it thats my guess at why you cannot

I think it is a liability thing. They make you switch the ski to sport mode, therefore if you get hurt in sport mode, they can say you did had to put it there.

I think that is dumb, because until they had iControl, all skis worked like sport mode does. If I wanted a whimpy ski, I would have not bought the 215 HP ski. I get for novice or casual riders, touring mode is a good idea. But dang it, if I knew enough to set the ski in sport mode and I got tossed off playing around in sport mode at least leave it in the mode I used it last. Or at a minimum, only go back to tour mode for the learning key.

It is a pain in the tail! Why in the heck do I want to push and hold a button for 3+ seconds after I start the engine to go back to the mode I was in when the key got pulled last.

I am hoping that this group might know some tricks on how to retrain the computer. I think this is only a problem on skis with iControl.

Here is a clip from the seadoo web-site:
Sport/touring mode offers a choice between two throttle responses for different riding styles. And Ski Mode, available on Wake Pro, lets you choose from five acceleration profiles for an even greater tow sport experience
.

No where does it say that they pick for you everytime you start up!

GRRRR!!!!!
