Tool Rental for members?????

I've seen on other threads about people needing tools...pump press, alignment tool, etc

I have this thought........Remember it's just a thought
What if the forum members chipped in and bought a 1-2 of each of them. Then pay saaaay $5-$20 + shipping each time it's rented. Use the rental money to buy new tools as needed.
Details TBD - who keeps its?,
how long can the renter keep it?,
Deposit charge until it's returned or shipped to someone else?
What tools to buy?
Insurance with shipping?

Members in good standing only...such as 30 or 60 days as a member b4 being able to
rent.

 :)

That is a good idea!!

You could include with the tool a usps box and return label that way it would be easier for the renter..no hassle. drop it any mail box

would the seadoo warehouse be interested in holding them?

SDB, you need to think this thru more -

- what ya gonna do if someone damages or does not return the tool???
- personally, i don't see alot of people chipping in to buy the tools.
- the only way it makes sesne, is if those that chipped in got to use the tool for free (shipping only) and the members that don't chip in pay a rental (maybe 25% of renting from SBT).
- frustrated people if they chipped in to buy a tool adn there is a 3 week backlog to use it.
- who is going to take on the headache of managing the tools?
- what if you end up with a couple $ in tools and the person managing/holding them gets hit by a bus?
I doubt seadoo warehouse would manage them for free, and their managaing costs probably make it not worth while?

The only way I really see this as viable is of Tony decides it makes sense for him to make and rent the tools, but he has already indicated that he has reservations about doing so.

Yes, Jake. You have very valid points. You added some questions to mine that would need to be ironed out before this would get off the ground.

I like the idea of chipping in and get free rental + shipping.

I think a hefty deposit paid would cover if someone doesn't return it.

Of course this works better if, for instance a club w/ a hundred members would buy it then rent it to the members all within the same local area. SDF has over 45K members in all parts of the world. Granted several thousand probably have not been active in a few years......
.......but it's just a thought :)

could we rent some of your tools sdb ???, how much deposit on them shanks ?? oh i mean screwdrivers....

give it some thought, post results

Don't forget to check your compression, and post back your results. Someone should chime in.
