ok, so heres the deal. i did a whole lot of maint this winter and this was the first time taking it out(2006 challenger 180, 215 SC 4-tec)... i had the dealer to new bearings, seals, wear ring, and solas concord impeller, and i did the plugs and oil. so i run it down the river and after 10 min i get a check engine light and its starts to spudder. so i pull over to someones private doc and look to see oil all over my motor from the breater. (i keep it disconnected from the airbox with a filter.) so i check the oil and i was like a quart to much! :(, i forgot to open the throttle and crank it a few times to get all the oul out. when i checked it after putting 3 quarts in i was good. i guess it wasnt level! damn it! lol..... but funny enough i parked at a retired boat mech doc! lol... so he was nice enough to help me suck the extra quart out... after that all was good. i enjoyed the day with no problems... the boat seemed to do alot better! 7000rpm and i was at 39mph... i thought the impeller would have done a little better than that... but on the way home like 3 hrs later the check engine light came back on after a high speed sharp turn????. so i stoped and shut the boat down... started it back up and it was off... took it back to the landing and i hit a few more turns but the light didnt come back on... could it of been from residual oil in that sensor by the breather? i dont get it.... do you think there should be anything to worry about or am i good??? also dont you think that boat should be a little faster? i never had it full throttle but at 7000 im at 38 to 39mph and 6000 im at 29 to 30 and i gotten it up to 40 at 7250rpms.... any help would be great! thanx guys! ;)

wow.... so no one has any info about this? i posted this on the ski side of the forum and got a few hits... but i guess im the only one with a boat that put too much oil in it... lol.

I thought you had your answers in the other duplicate post.....

But in any case, I do not think you did any permanent damage to your engine by having too much oil. Sounds like you did not run in very long in this condition so you should be fine. Just keep an eye on the oil on your next couple of outings. The light coming back on after you took oil down to proper level is probably just a fluke. And I did this once too, put about 1/2 quart too much in.

As far as your speed, you probably won't get much more than about 45mph in that boat with one engine. It all depends on water conditions and it can really affect top speed. If anything, make sure your jet pump is in good condition and you do not have any cavitation problems as that can really affect speed and performance. Hope this helps a bit, good luck!

thanx man... yeah i looked around but didnt see too much on this topic... but i plan to take it out this friday to see how it does.... but i didtn run it but for maybe 10min until the light came on... and i never went full throttle... but we will see... i just wanna make sure its all good before i get the wife and kid on it! ;) thanx agian!
