Tiny Tach on a 2006 Sportster

Hello all again - Since my 2006 sportster does not have an owner readable hour meter, I was wondering if anyone has used a Tiny Tach on their engine. I have used them on a 25hp yamaha outboard, but dont know about using one on a four stroke SC engine. Anyone with experience with these out there? Also, has anyone ever installed an hour meter on a 2006 sportster? If so, What meter did you use, and where did you attach the 'hot' lead so it would only read when the engine is actually running?

Update: I took the Tiny Tach off my yamaha outboard and installed it on the 4-tec number one plug wire, and it worked great running it with the flush hose in place...
