Throttle low and surging on 2012 Challenger 210

My 2012 Challenger 210 has been in storage for a year while I moved from FL to CA. Before shipping it I changed oil and whatnot and noticed the shifter was VERY stiff - I almost couldn't move it. I just got it to CA and took it out to test everything. It is idling really rough at about 1500 rpm. The shift now moves freely but I can only manage 2500-3000 rpm. There is intermittent surging though where it will jump to say 4000-5000 but only for a few seconds.

This wouldn't be just the throttle cable, would it? I don't think that would explain the surging. Is there anything I can check/verify before I spend a boat-load (ha) getting is fixed?

Thanks!

The throttle is electronic on the 210, so the shifter cable runs to a sensor that is mounted under the dash, behind the starboard front seat back. Remove the cloth cover (4 snaps) and the sensor is mounted to the bottom middle of the opening.

You can actually actuate the sensor by hand from there to help diagnose if you are dealing with an engine problem or a shifter issue.

I removed and lubed my shifter handle assembly this spring. It's pretty straightforward.

I removed the handle and greased everything and put grease on the gate as well. The handle is moving fine now... but maybe the sensor is corroded. Thanks for the info.

How about the spark plugs, are they new? If not replace them Sea-Doos LOVE spark plugs I've been down that road before. Surging an erratic throttle control.

You should know where the fly by wire throttle sensor is as you need to lock this open manually when changing the oil. You do this during the oil change in order to pump the oil from the PTO to the oil sump. Sounds to me like your recent oil change was not done properly.

Is this different than doing a manual wot? Any chance to send pics of this process?

@ brian... This is different, in the 2010 the throttle control is under the helm and it's mounted just behind the fabric snap in separator. Really easy to spot once you open the bow seat back on the driver's side and pull the fabric back, right there mounted to the fiberglass.

Do you have a service manual for your boat?

Ok. Yeah I got the s service manual here a premium member. I've been in that spot behind the dash to take a look @ the radio before. I didn't see a diagram in the service manual but haven't been thru it page by page yet so I may have missed it. Do you have a page #?
