If it is the GTI, adjust the cable adjustment. Be sure the cable allows the intake to close properly when finished.

no its a 99 xpl. just got it today i forgot to update my profile. the craft has been modified from a racing handle bar set up back to the stock. I didnt like the position of the racing bars. Also can running the ski on bad carbs hurt it ?? the rebuild kit is coming in the mail. it needs to be rejetted not quite sure what that means but the guy we bought the ski from is doing it for me. Ha he owns his own shop and used to race.

It's kinda hard to help out with no information on your present seadoo. If the old owner is going to rejet, let him adjust the cable at the same time as he will have to anyways after removing the carbs to rejet anyway.

well i dont really know what rejetting is but he said that the rebuild kit is on its way with the new jets. ha ha. so i'll have to figure that out when the kit comes, but until then is it ok to run the ski?? and can i adjust the throttle?? the cord id loose. i'm going to join as a premium member soon hahaha

The adjustment to the throttle cable is in the manual, but for now just follow the cable to the carburator linkage and loosen up the nuts on the adjuster, make the adjustment till it is not loos anymore and tighten up the lock nuts. Just be sure it returns to idle position, before you start it up or ride it. Snap the throttle and see it snap back.

If the seado needs to be re-jeted it either is getting too much fuel or not enough. The only way to see what it needs is to go do a spark plug check. If it is running too lean it could seize up...if it is too rich it might just stall and bog from too much fuel. Here is a link about spark plugs.;

REJET? As far as is it ok to drive before you get the carbes rebuilt. If he is going to fatten (make bigger) the jets I would stay off the water. You will run the chance of leaning out the engine and either scuffing a piston or blowing the thing up all together. If he is going to lean (make smaller) the jets then go for it run it all you want. All that is going to happen is you are going to foul the spark plugs.

The worst is that it could foul plugs or run poorly if he knows what he is doing and he is sure it is in need of a small main jet.

yeah it had the small ones on at first but he wasnt happy with how they were performing so he put in big jets. and now he wants to go back. he knows what he's doing he a technician on pwctoday. and sea doo .net
