Hello all, looking for opinions from experienced owners. I sold my boat this past year (sea ray 240 sundeck) which i had for several years, always wanted a PWC so my buddy and i went to a boat show last week and decided to go with sea doo. I'm caught between a 2016 RXT-260 and the RXT-X 300, does anyone have any experience with the RXT-260? i know the 300's are new and there is probably little user experience with them, i live in CT and will be in the ocean quite a bit as well as some fresh water rivers and lakes but occasionally. I guess I'm asking of the 300 will be a crazy difference to a 260 to overall power as ive never ridden either, thanks for the input..

honestly i've never been on any of the 300 model's yet. I only know one guy that has one so far.

Howeve, the RXT is an excellent choice for offshore riding so your off to a good start.

My assumption is that the 300 will offer slightly better 0-40 and 0-60 speeds, but for a new rider the difference won't be that noticeable, both will be what i'd consider fast as hell.

I think the price difference is only about $1500ish ? Is that about right ?

If I was buying new, i'd probably go with the 300, there might be some recalls or troublesome issues with a new power plant but your under warranty so it might be a hassle but not a huge expense. I think you get the boost gauge as well with the 300, not a Huge deal but some guys really think they are important.

The 260 certainly is more of a proven engine, and long term easier to get assorted parts for but that's not a huge concern for a few years.

I doubt you'll need to mod up either one... especially under warranty.

I think you'll be more than satisfied with either choice. But again, for the extra 10%, if you have the bucks, go for it !

hopefully someone with 260/300 experience will chime in but there aren't many 300's out there yet. The one fella I know with a 300 had a 260 but it was so modded up that he was hitting mid 80's and wearing a helmit... I don't think he had it as a stock 260 for more than a weekend or two at best.

Thank you for the reply, you're right on the price difference, new RTX 260 is $13,999 and 300 is $15,399 and the only difference in the 2016 catalogue listed is no cruise control/no wake mode on the RTX-x300 and 260 does have it. Overall not a deal breaker. You mentioned the 260 has a better proven motor, is the 300 a complete new motor or more a modified old one?

yes i believe its a complete different engine, but a few bolt on's are interchangeable.

The 260 (1503) is more proven but IMO its close to maxed out, its been around since 02'.

I texted my 300 owner buddy, and his response was

"fk ya, get the 300 its amazing"

"even stock, crazy"

you might want to bounce over to the hulk since some guys over there have done some write ups in detail if you want to research it more fully, but i'll believe Adam (above) and his opinion. I know of one more guy down here that has one but I don't have him in my contacts. I assume he's respond in the same fashion, another speed freak.

Don't get me wrong, you'll be very impressed with the 260, but for the extra few bucks I'd suggest getting the 300, and hold on tight, its going to be a hell of a ride.

Yes that sounds right, I was hoping you'd say that... Thanks again for the reply and checking with your friend.

The 2016 300 ski has a Super Charger that is maintenance free. That is enough to sway me if I was competing it to a 2015 model. And I LOVE the RXT ski.
