This is a stupid question

I have a 1995 Seadoo and got it from my brother. This is a stupid question, BUT can I start the seadoo (to see if it even runs) out of water? I wasn't sure if that would hurt the seadoo.

Thanks so much!!! Will be seeing y'all more often! :)

Hi Kat,

Yes you can start your SeaDoo on the trailer, but don't let it run for more than a few seconds.

You can also hook a hose to it, I made and adapter from a piece of 1/2" hose that I pushed into a 3/4" garden hose, attach the 1/2" hose to the outflow (arrow going out) of the ski. I know this sounds backwards, but it's actually for flushing the ski.

Start the ski first and turn the water on, only about 1/4 turn, only let the ski run for 5mins. or less.

You can also buy a flush kit, but this does the same thing.

If you are confussed, check out the owners manual, you can download it.

No such thing as a stupid question! There are plenty of kits to buy them such as from SBT, but these tend to be pricey.

Lou made a good point at making your own kit to flush. For mine I bought a few parts for less than $6 at the local Tractor Supply and had a way to hook my hose up. With flushing it you can def let it run longer, but don't leave it too long. 5 mins is the limit, and I can't see why you would need to run it longer than that though.
