thinking about getting into this hobby!!

I got my Pilots license when I was 20. Flying full scale is fun, but unfortunately, it has gotten very expensive.

In the early 90's, I could get a Cessna 152, wet (with fuel) for $27/hr. Now... it would cost you +$60/hr. (Min 40 hr to qualify for your test)

The nice thing about an ultra-light is that you don't need a license, but you can't land in a real airport.

Yeah I went to Arrow Aviation College for 2 years. It cost me 70/hr with the instructor. It just got too expensive for me. I logged about 180 hrs so far.
I think I may just get back into RC stuff for now. But I am keeping my eye open for a nice used Ultra Light. Wonder if the RC field next to my house would let me fly it there.

If it's an "AMA" model field... then No, they can't let you fly there. We just went thought this with a member of a club I belong to. It's a privately owned field, and the club charter, thought the AMA prohibits the use of full sized aircraft. (The insurance becomes void)

The member in question flew RC... but he would bring up a ParaPlane... or powered parachute to fly. (what ever you want to call it)
