Looking at a 2007 RXT 215 with 120hrs on it and the wrings were replaced. It appears to be in great condition and the owner is asking $7000. Is this a good, ok, bad price?
I read a few post about buying used, the below has been the what to look for advice I was following, is there anything else?
The 4-tec engine is great. Can easily get 1000 hours or better on it. The 155 engine is VERY proven. They create the 215, 255 and 260 buy slight mods within the engine and adding intercoolers and Super Chargers (SC).
They are more expensive to repair if the need presents itself, but generally speaking, they don't need repaired like the 2-strokes do.
from 2004 to 2007 (and some rare early 08's) the SC's had ceramic washers. If you by a ski in this year span and the owner can nor provide written evidence proving they were changes, then the SC will need to be rebuilt (The Ceramic washers are engine killers).
And, 2004 to early 2006 the 4-tec used hollow core exhaust valves. If they have not been swapped out, they will need to be with the updated solid core.
I own a 155 and a 255 and LOVE them both. GTX is the caddy of skis as it comes with many goodies and a smooth and dry riding hull. My RXT-X is the racer. All stock and can run to 72 mph.
