I was on a parts supplier website when it indicated the 657 and 657X engines will work on my '94 SPX. What is the difference between the 657 and 657X?

Hi JR86,
I'm not sure of all the differences between these engines. What I do know is that the shape of the intake holes in the cases of the 657X are oval and the other 657 are round. I'm pretty sure the rotary valves are different and that they are timed different. The 657X is considered to be the more "high output" of the two engines.

I believe the mounting is identical between the engines. The power advantage is the big difference.

Great! I think I will be ordering the X engine then. It will also make it easier to sell the doo with a new engine as well. I won't make any money, but I also won't loose my butt too!

Keep us posted on your progress with the new engine install. We love to hear good news too.
