Guys,

My 2007 Utopia, while new, needed a little pop in the gelcoat primarily on the top surfaces. The boat was obviously left outside for some time.

I have both a rotary buffer and a Porter cable orbital. I had tried everything in my automotive detailing arsenal as well as several marine compounds and while I was able to improve the condition of the top surfaces, I just couldn't get perfection until today.

My neighbor(who is a boater himself) suggested this stuff called "Buff Magic" put out by Shurhold industries. The stuff is kinda expensive but let me tell you.....IT WORKS!!!

I initially applied the Buff Magic with my rotary with wool pad attached. I was stunned at how effective it was. I did all the above rub-rail stuff then repeated with my Porter Cable orbital with the Buff Magic again to get that little bit extra gloss. I followed this with some 3M Sealer and the boat looks like it just came from the Seadoo factory only shinier :-)

Sorry no pictures, I ran out of time today and had to get the boat back over to the storage center.

I purchased the Buff Magic from Boaters world. It was like $29 for a small can but it says it'll do a 40' boat. You use it rather sparingly. Well worth the money when you find a product that is clearly better than anything on the market.

If you want to clean the floors in your boat get a buck of warm water and a Mr Clean Eraser. You will have nice clean floors with in minutes.

As a top coat I use Teflon wax to hold the shine and last for a long time in the Florida sun. I get mine at West Marine...runs about $25.00 a quart.
