Well fellas when you buy a boat in Ontario or maybe any where in Canada you need to ask that the trailer price be taken off the boat/trailer combo.
When you plate the trailer if the price of the trailer is bundled with the boat you need to pay taxes on the total amount. If on a private sale you have the invoice state that the trailer is $200 and the boat is $9800 you only have to pay tax on the $200 of the trailer.
There is no real way for taxes to be paid on the boat when transferring the ownership. They have to get you on the trailer because it is plated.
Just a heads up and hope it saves people in the long run.
