Yup, down on the Chesapeake bay last weekend, boat loaded full of peeps, slow idle away from the sand bar then mash the throttles on my 200 speedster-she lifts outta the water quickly then the dreaded SHUTTER!!!!!! right prop is either clogged or stuck...

I drift further out, drop the gate, try floating in reverse after a few revs....nothing clears it

limp back to dock, up on trailer, drop the gate down and up inside is a pair of Jockey Flannel Briefs!!! WTF??

it blocked all flow to the prop by sitting over the impeller blades and acted like the clutch was slipping as it shuttered..cleared it out back in the water 2 hrs after suck in and running.

I really wish these boats weren't so vulnerable to crap like this! Yamaha has a top opening cleanout port you can access from the deck which would have fixed this in 5 minutes.

Generally speaking, anytime you are dealing with someone else's undies it can be a dangerous thing.

Just sayin.

Did you turn off the engines while trying the "Floating" trick? If not... you never released the suction on the junk.

Also... as far as... "I really wish these boats weren't so vulnerable to crap like this!".... All boats are susceptible to floating junk. If you were idling in an I/O... those undies could have wrapped around the prop just as easy. And... Yamaha's clean out system has it's own issues. When the cups decide to not seal... you don't go anywhere. Not to mention, it kills the efficiency of the intake, and causes light cavitation.

Basically... there are positives and negatives on all systems.

Im wondering if a nozzle mounted in the intake tunnel right before the prop aimed forward would be an upgrade-on board compressed air tank, a blast with the valve with the gates down??

And , No didn't kill engines with reverse float....good point as it probably was being held tight by the suction

Cleanout grate actuator rod

While under her with the Gates dropped (small hexbolt out of the actuator rod, I noticed what looked like a hull repair around where the rod goes thru the hull.

Anyone ever repaired that area? Im thinkin may be why my bilge seems to take on more water than I would think it should.

Can you see that rod easily from topside access area? seals?

I was out swimming the Chesapeake a few days ago like I always do, when this seadoo boat zoomed by(not close either, at least a dozen yards!) and sucked my undies right off me! :)

you could have embellished the story and said it was a 36 DD bra or at least a thong as opposed to some dude's tighty whiteys. Just sayin... Hope you used gloves to remove them!

Oh Yea forgot to mention ...it had a prosthetic extention in them with BigJake written on it , with a Sharpie!

Damn twin SC pumps pull a mighty vacume!
