Tach seems lazy/ off rpm

One of my tachometers doesn't start moving until 3000 RPM. It also seems to top out around 5500. The other motor is a little over 6500 and I can hear the motors sound RPM wise, are in sync....

I had the same problem. I actually got it to work but I think it was luck and may not work for you. I tried to take apart the gauge. I thought if I got it open I could spray from oil around and maybe it would work again. anyway, I took off the brass nut off the back and then tried to pry it apart. I couldn't in the short term and put the nut back on finger tight. I thought I would try again at some point in the future. anyway I put it back in and it just worked from that point forward.

This probably wont help but it worked for me.

Also, any 4 cycle 4 cylinder engine fires at the same speed, so if you find an aftermarket tach you like for an engine like that, you can wire it for your use. I bought this and resealed it, as it was not waterproof.

But any would work if you are willing to go non-OEM. (4 Cylinder 4 Cycle signal matches our engines)
