Hello all,
I'm looking into buying a 2009 SeaDoo challenger 180 SE. It has about 75 hours on it.

I've been reading up on them, and noticed some say a supercharger rebuild is required at 2years or 100 hours.

I looked at the manual, and it just says that all you need to do is check the supercharger clutch slip at 2 years or 200 hours.

So which is it? And how much is the inspection?

Officially it is whichever hits first. Years or hours. Most stretch the years if they don't get many hours per year.

Years are important due to the bearings casings breaking down over time. They are made of plastic. If you want to get it rebuilt let us know we have a rebuild service for $425.

Ah, yes. I think I saw your video on YouTube?

I'm just curious: the owners manual says to "inspect supercharger clutch" but doesn't say to replace it. Was replacement necessary for 2008 and earlier years?

Here is a video on the rebuild

Since it a part that runs at high speed, it's a good idea to service it. There are many supercharger failures that have been documented over the years. The 2009 should have a good reputation. Mostly the bearings get replaced and the washers are refreshed. The service rebuild mentioned above is a good price considering the rebuild kits from seadoo are about 325.
