Anyone ever done this? Considered doing it?.... I am.

I'm thinking of either removing the gear, So it doesn't spin, or just gutting the whole thing entirely and reinstalling. Or just reroute my intake plumbing to bypass it.

The issues/maintenance with the supercharger seems to be more trouble than its worth. I hardly ever see more than 6000 RPMs the way I use my boat. Could I still rev that high without?

Any thoughts.

Dumb idea. To do it properly you'd have to remove the entire cover and replace it with a non supercharged cover. At this point all you'd have is a low compression motor that has rather large injectors and is tuned for boost. In other words you'll maybe see 6k rpm and burn craploads of fuel. Just sell the boat and buy a non supercharged one if you really wanna get rid of the supercharger.

As mentioned,, the engines are different.

In the case of a ski, there is nearly a 20 MPH difference when the SC fails. So, not only would you have a low compression engine, you would lose substantial performance..

Yep, to all of the above.

Personally, I would remove the SC, and install a Turbo. You would still have your boost, and not have the issues with a failing SC.
