sundeck lock wont open to engine compartment

Good aft all,

been a while I know, having a great summer with the boat.

put it away for 3 weeks, then went to open the sundeck to access engine area and the bloody thing wont release from the deck lock. there is still a connection as I hear it click somewhat when I pull release lever from drivers storage compartment.
there is a screw beneath the padding of the sundeck which Im thinking will allow for some play in the lock, but not sure... any quick suggestions. gotta check out engines before going back out.

On Sea Doo jet skis that have the lift shock, if the U-bracket breaks where the shock mounts it is very hard to impossible to open the seat area. This may also be the case with the boats.

For the ski's, start to loosen the bolt/screw you mentioned and it lets the locking pin move forward a bit. About 3 turns is all it takes for ski's and then the seat will lift of the pin...
