Sucked up Tow Rope - Possible Damage

Hi all,

A tow rope was sucked up by my Seadooo 155 GTX (4-tech), it stopped the engine and I beleive the rider tried to start it again a couple of times. It didn't start and we got towed in. After some effort the rope was removed, I've been out on the ski once since but it idles and moves okay at very low power okay but as soon as you try and real form of acceleration the ski just revs highly, similar to a clutch slipping in a car but it does jerk forward a bit and start to move but it is clear something is not right. I am pretty sure it is not the impella as I've already replaced it (I've also had impella issues before and it seems different now). I am wondering if the driveshaft or any other of the components are damaged? Does this sound likely?

Also is there any way I could check this, are there any instructions or pictures on how I should go about it?

Any advice would be appreciated

Thanks
Tom

It is likely your wear ring which is the plastic sleeve the impeller rides within.

If the gap from the impeller to the wear ring is more than the thickness of a dime, that's the issue.

You should be able to post a picture looking from the jet and we can confirm it for you.

My 97 XP did the same thing after sucking a rope in. The rope wrapped around the driveshaft and bent the driveshaft. Used driveshaft and back in business. I did replace the other wear parts while I was in there.

You need a 75' rope with a football floater at 10' behind the ski. Easily done to prevent this in the future.
