Newbie here. Thanks in advance for any advice/suggestions.

Kids are putting out the tube/line while I'm dropping anchor... my engines idling. The line falls in the water, sinks and gets sucked up the left impeller. It cut out immediately with a noticeable, but not overly dramatic thunk. The line wrapped hard around the shaft squeezing/tearing the light blue shaft protector. The line did not get to the impeller.

First, what likely damage was done?

Second, what are likely repair requirements?

Thirdly, what is my local repair shop going to suggest/require?

Lastly, what jobs are they going to suggest/require I do that are UNnecessary?

Thanks!!

Pull teh weedless handle, cut the rope off and it you had to, pull the pumps and rip as much as the blue shaft protector off. Re-assemble and water test it to make sure it's all good. I sucked a rope in my 99 and that is what I did. The shaft protector is a one time use thing. Meaning, you'll never idle again with the rope in the water. I'm hypersensative to the rope in the water now, if it's even close to the boat I cut the engines.

When we sucked up the tow rope we were able to just cut it out through the bottom. Look underneath the boat there should be one or two cavities (depending on how many engines your boat has) there is a claw looking metal cover over the cavity remove that and you should be able to cut the rope out threw that hole. Sorry I don'gt know the terminology, I am also a newbie... Good Luck! :)
