Sucked up the ski rope, Sportster 1800

Rope wrapped around the shaft and broke off the plastic covering the prop shaft. Was that just for corrosion or to keep water out of something? :stupid:

Check to make sure, your impellor isn't shot..bent blade,..also, check wear ring for damage.
Not sure how important that shield is, though...

From the parts diagrams, it looks like its just the plastic "Shaft Protector" that is broken, and it looks like it just clips in place? So I don't think there are any seals that I would have to worry about. It's #15 in the diagram.
