I'm posting on here becaues I had a small problem with a friend. He let me use his sea-doo and I ran over the tow rope that someoen had out in the water just sitting afloat. We flipped the seadoo over and cut the rope out, the shaft looks to be straight and not hurt. When we got the water out of the craft and the rope out, it wouldnt start. Even the beep when they key is in doesnt seem as loud. We tried boosting it but it does the same thing. What did we do? :(

The Seadoo is an 07 GTX.

Pull the spark plugs IMMEDIATELY. While you had the boat upside down (and for a while I imagine if you are cutting out rope), water may have entered the engine and caused a hydrolock.

Once the plugs are out, you should try to rotate the driveline at the PTO coupler or flywheel BY HAND. This ensures that indeed the rope bits are out. It also rotates the engine to allow water to drain out some of the water in the cylinders.

Ground the wires to the orange grounding bar to protect the ignition system. You'll need to stand clear of the plug holes if you manage to get the starter to turn the motor. Once the water is ejected, spray WD-40 or in the cylinders to prevent corrosion while you stand there in awe of the spray you just got all over you.

Then take apart the box where the other end of the spark plug wires go. Empty out any water that got in there. You may need to disassembly and clean up the terminals if corroded. Dry everything out and reassemble.

Dry out the plugs or get new ones, connect the wires and give it another go.

This happened yesterday, we took it out of the water. I will do what you said and try it again, thanks.

Hey,

I just did what you mentioned above, and it seem to do the same thing. Although a WHOLE LOTTA water came out of the area where the plugs were, it still hesitates to start. It just makes a clicking noise. I also notice the prop spins freely when the plugs are out and its trying to turn over. So thats good too! It just doesn't want to start.

Help?

Wow, no offense but you may be spending a lot of money to get that thing fixed. You are probably going to have to change the oil numerous times to get it all out! You could have messed someting up electrical, and that is why it is not starting.

Take apart the electrical box and make sure it is dry. Wasn't sure if this got done or not.
