Renovating the Stereo in my boat. Going with all JL Audio Speakers, but wondering between these two subs.

I just don't want the sub to overwhelm the 4 other speakers.

I will run this with some type of 5 channel amp to be determined.

Thoughts? Any one have experience with these? Thanks so much!

Here is another question. Does the amp really matter as long as it is a good quality marine amp, say a Kenwood Class D amp for $200 vs a JL audio one for $500? Will I really notice the difference?

Lol sorry, one additional question. Stereo guy said it would sound better with doing 2 of the 8.5 JL audio speakers combined with the 2 6.5 and no sub. Thoughts?

Ok scratch anything bigger than a 6.5 in the back of the boat. So back to the original question, 8 or 10 inch sub.

I have a huge JL system in my boat. The stereo guy customer me up with what he called the big d I c k on the beach system. I run everything all including three JL AMPS. THE AMP MAKES MORE DIFFERENCE THAN THE SPeakers. Trust me. U can hear me before u see me and still sing long with the words. My best advice is get wake tower enclosures. I have 16 speakers. Get the 6.5 speakers that have the tweeter that can be separately placed. Having tweeters properly positioned is the best thing u can do for sound quality. I love my JL system and even though I paid way more than I should have for a boat system I have no buyers remorse two years later. Also one of my speakers died and JL warranty was no issue

Oh and I have the 10" sub. I have a knob switch to control the volume on just the sub. So many songs change how much bass u need or don't. That knob was a. If help

I have both an 18 challenger and a 210 challenger. The stereo is in the 210. The sub fit nicely in the walk through near the helm. I'll take some pics of it's not to crappy out today. I gotta tell u a good stereo really adds to the enjoyment. Wake boarding is more fun with tunes and frankly I enjoy getting the old people at the beach all wound up. Often people will be dancing on shore as I cruise past. Love it
