Stolen Seadoo engine

Went to get my mail today and notice the seat was off my Seadoo RX. Thought maybe I forgetten to put it back on. But when I walked up to it, I notice it wasn't anywhere to be found. Not only that but the complete engine was gone.
I mean complete, exhaust, carbs, etc. Someone or someones had taken the time and effort to completely unbolt and cut the engine out. Also missing is the front compartment and a couple of life vest.
I'm in awe at the pair someone must have had to take the time to do this. I mean what if I had looked out my window? Why would anyone risk that? Are people that crazy? Of is this not that uncommon? I've never hear of someone stealing just and engine. Complete ski, yeah, but just the engine?
I'm guessing it had to have been 2 guys, since it would have took that to just even lift the thing. Also had to been someone who knew what they were doing. I guessing it's someone who needed the parts for another RX, because they didn't touch my Yamaha or boat sitting right next to it.

It sucks I only had maybe 30-40 minutes run time on the engine and now I have to replace it and I have a 500 deductable. So I have to give 500 dollars for something I already had.
I know after today. I'm moving all my "toys" next to the house under the lights.

Anyone have any idea what I'm looking at in replacement cost?

No idea on cost.

But do you think the scum who stole it knows the engine is new (or newly rebuilt)?

Someone who knows you or has been watching you do the work...

Thats the craziest thing I think I've ever heard. It had to be someone you know that wasnt to worried about being seen around your house.

Wow that crazy. I had to be someone who was very familier with that model. probably a owner of the same type craft. any other thug would have just taken the whole ski.

If the police have any interest a dmv search of registered RX owners in the area would be helpful. Also, watch craiglist and ebay...

If they cut all the hoses and wiring along with taking the seat ................ I would think it may even be a wright off. Sorry man that sucks.
