Hi guys, I'm helping my friend troubleshoot an issue on his 1998 SPX. He bought it as a non-runner, though I think the issue may be as simple as bad hose clamp seals on the pulse and fuel inlet lines.
Anyway, I removed the entire intake assembly to inspect the carb connections and in the process of playing with the throttle, noticed it isn't fully closing when it's released from less than 50% throttle.
If you hold it wide open, and quickly release, it closes all the way, but if you release it anywhere from about half throttle and below, it's sticking open about 10%.
The throttle and oil pump linkages all look like they're routed straight with no binding. Perhaps I accidentally twisted an internal cable when I was reassembling? Should I try some cable lube?
