stereo questions for a 96 speedster

So since the 96 speedsters come with no stereo system. I'm going to install a fully custom one. I am going to be running with about a 900-1000w total package. My question is, would using a optima D31M blue top battery be good enough and will this size of a stereo system cause any charging problems to the battery? Or would running 2 optima batteries be a better way to go?

If you are going to have a large sound system... I would recommend 2 batteries, and an isolater switch. Then, hook each engine's charging system to the separate batteries.

You don't want to have a dead battery on the water.

There's a bunch of stereo installs in the boat mods section.

My advice would be to isolate the amps from the factory charging system. The head unit would be fine to run off the factory wiring, but an amp of that size could cause an issue. Run two batteries, one is for the main factory wiring, isolate the second battery for the amp. DO NOT allow the big amp to draw from the factory wiring, use the separate battery to power it. Big amps draw ALOT of current, the factory charging system could be damaged. Charge the second battery fully each time before you go out.

Most people put in a dual battery setup and use a A,B A&B and Off switch for the battery. Perko an few other make them for under $50. Find another spot in engine bay where you can glue/secure another battery mount. Make sure to use tinned Coast Guard approved wire for the battery cable for safty and if you get inspected. I built up a spot in the boat with fiberglass and pressure treated wood so I would glue and screw in the extra battery tray. I mounted my perko switch right next to the MPEM so I have to pull up the back cover to select which battery. I use a Sony 600w Maine 4/3 Channel AMP, I never killed a battery yet or the factory harness. The factory harness only powers the head unit. I replaced all other cables with aftermarket ones that were heavier guage.
