I dont see a problem. Mine is the same way. You are just pulling a cable when you turn the wheel. That cable then moves the nozzle side to side. That is what makes the boat steer. It is a lot less receptive than a traditional prop driven boat where you are actually turning the prop angle. It takes more of a turn than just moving the wheel a slight amount. It is also much slower to respond. Turn the wheel and it takes a few seconds for the boat to move. All looks good to me.

Maybe i am missing your point......what is the problem?
 
It is basically a pulley system. You are going to have some play in it. I have it in mine. There is even a stiff spot when your are turing right. Nature of the beast.
