Steering Assist throttle cable

Had to order a new throttle cable that attaches to the back of the steering wheel assembley (steering assist throttle on a 2000 Challenger 2000).

The end of the cable had snapped on the previous owner and they just disconnected it from the engine and let it hang loose.

I installed the new cable today. Got it fished through to the motor and connected to the steering assembly. Now the problem is I can't for the life of me see where it connects to the throttle assembly on the motor.

I see the bracket where the adjustment screw of the throttle cable attaches and it is shooting the cable straight up. The bracket is right near the main throttle cable on the passenger side of the boat near the front of the motor. like i siad, the way the throttle cable attaches to the bracket it looks like it wants to go straight up somewhere behind a bunch of crap I would need to remove to get it attached (somewhere behind the oil pump assembly).

I don't want to take all the stuff apart until i know for sure this is where the throttle cable needs to go. Can someone let me know if I'm in the right area?

The steering throttle cable is the dashed line coming in from the bottom right. Found the bracket where the adjustment screw (#41 in the picture) mounts.

I need to find where #42 and #46 are so I can attach the end of the cable. The picture is little help.

You might have to remove the Sparkarester assemble to see and attach the end of the cable to the Linkage.

Steering assist!

Scarfie, I looked up in the manuals to see what I could find, and there is an exploded view of your system, in detail. You should have no problem seeing where your cables connect.
Go to the manual section and look in the manual for the Utopia 2001-2002. Go to page 06-02-01. There you will find the chapter on your steering system and an exploded view where these cables attach.
On my Challenger, it's a bit different. But I was trying to figure why I had so much slack in mine. Then I realized that it was because it didnt' pull on the throttle until the wheel was almost at it's limit of travel. Kinda goosing the motor to help power the backing or turning radius while the engine is at idle.
I hope this helps you out a bit!...........

Found it. Part #46 is mssing completely. It's a small plastic cap that holds the cable in place. It's a $22 part!!!! Geez.

Thanks for the help.
