stator

Hi, not sure what you mean by main, but here is a photo that should help. The stator is the curved brass fins in front of the impeller that the cone is attached to.

Great pix....

Great pix Gunsrunner!........the black cone is the oil storage for the bearings in the stator and should be checked annually. There is a plug in the top that you remove to view or fill. The stator has two purposes. To redirect the thrust from your pump into a more straigt pattern (the stationary blades are twisted the opposite direction of the impeller) and to house the bearings, oil and shaft of the impeller.

.......adding oil...

With the plug out of the cone, look into the hole. You should fill it up till your at the bottom of those threads.
I don't remember exactly how much it holds, I just researched and posted that the other day for another M-2 member, but can't remember. But that was from bone dry. See, you should never go bone dry unless you remove the bearings and clean out the stator. So, to ask if 6 oz. is enough, isn't really a good question. I can't tell you that. You just need to fill it the way I described.
Also, if you had that oil come out or could see it. I hope you looked to see if it had yellow coloring.....that would be an indicator that your seal has been compromised.
