Starts then dies in water

Hello SeadooForum community!

Looking for some advice with this issue:

My seadoo will start fine out of water.

In water it starts, then it will try to idle around 1500RPM, and within seconds drops to 1200 RPM and turns off (dash goes dark etc.) I have to start it and use a little throttle to keep it going. After running for awhile, this problem goes away until it sits off for 10+ minutes.


Any troubleshooting tips are appreciated.

I have tried plenty of fresh fuel and oil, charged the battery (AGM). I have some new spark plugs being delivered today.

The one thing is I had the fuel pump replaced last July, it ran great after that and through the winter.

In water idle should be 1500. Do a compression test as well.

It died right as I started it out of water. Put new spark plugs in.

Now it idles at 1500rpm in water, however the first start turns over and immediately dies. I will do a compression check too.
