starter issues

ok I made a big mistake. left out the plugs and nearly sank my 98 gti. After draining the water the starter will spin but not engage the motor. any suggertions??

I had that problem and it was a broken starter. The shaft was broken in half. the starter would just make a whirring noise.

Bad Bendix. replace it.
