We just bought a 2004 Sea-doo XP and the first time out before we even got to ride it was tilted to a 90 degree angle, but did not go all the way over. I looked inside did not see any water or anything disconnected or broke. However, now it will not start. "Sea-doo" come up on the display and the unit beeps every few seconds, but does not turn over. Brand new battery. Advice welcome.

Check your connections from the battery to the ground near the starter and the positive ends as well.
Also are you getting the 2 beeps when you connect the DESS lanyard indicating it is ready to start?

Yes Karl I get two chirps when I put in the key. Check bat. terminals but not able to spot the starter or ground. Thanks so much for your response.

Follow the Ground from the battery to the engine where the starter is. Chances are it has a bad connection. Remove the cable end and clean it up real good. This happens a lot from a corroded connection. If you run it in salt water the corrosion factor is real high. Rinse it well after use and spray it down real good with wd-40 when your done. Even in fresh water, spray it down good with wd-40 after use.

Let us know how you make out.

I have traced the ground cable from the battery to the engine compartment. It goes under the motor on the port side and I cannot reach it. I even took off a small plastic piece on the back of the motor (looks like an intake part). It almost looks like I would have to remove the round pipe to get to stater. There is a large plastic box in the starbord side of the engine that might give me room but it does not look like enough room to get it out. I posted picture to gallery showing engine compartment. Titled no room.

A friend said if it went over on the starboard side to put it back in the water and tip it 90 degrees to the port side. Does these have some kind of tip over switch?

Think ur right, someone posted the same thing about wk ago, needing the dealer to reset it, after flip'n...?

thanks timmy

We are taking our other one out today and I will try reverse tipping before taking to shop. Larry

I have never heard of the switch he mentioned in that post...nrek, what does it say in your manual. I'm not on my puter now and can't get in the manuals to read up on it now... If there is such a switch it should be in the seadoo manual.

under capsized my manual tells how to right the ski and then says:

DI Models
To prevent fuel to be injected and also
to cut the ignition at the engine starting,
proceed as follows.
While engine is stopped, fully depress
throttle lever and HOLD for cranking.
Crank engine several times. Mine won't crank.

NOTE: A 1 second beep every second
indicates the drowned mode is active

I get like 4 beeps at once over and over

What's drowned mode?

Started not working

Folks. We are headed to the lake and we will both just have to ride one bike. See you when we get back. Thanks all. Larry

Larry, if you read the manual the "Drown Mode" allows you to crank the engine as in changing the oil or if you flood the engine and need to get the water out. It won't inject any fuel at that time.

If all else fails read the directions.
Guess I still need advice on hot to get access to the starter. Have not been able to check the connections.

starter could have a stuck brush, Try tapping on the starter when you hit the button..

By the way you do hear the solenoid click right?

Starter won't engage

Thank you for your interest. I do hear the solenoid click. I would tap on the starter, but part of my problem is that I can't get to the starter without removing some items. And not sure what I am doing. I think it is an air intake filter that is in my way but not sure how to get it out.

I am including a picture start, I think the starter is on far side of picture at bottom of engine. Larry
