Hello all,
I'd like to know the average start time for the typical 787 motor? I believe mine take extremely long and i'd like to improve that if possible. I've only had it for a few months now and have been out on the water about 5 times total.
The right motor - I believe has a sticky RAVE valve, even after cleaning, but that's it's own issue that i'm hoping to get resolved soon.
I can start this motor cold or warm after about 30 seconds to up to 2 minutes of cranking.
The left motor - runs flawlessly.
This motor can take about 5 minutes to start, regardless of the engine being cold or warm (being off for about 30 minutes to an hour).
Cold, I am always choking the motors. Warm, I tend to have to choke a little bit, especially to keep them running as they will only idle and will die if I give them any throttle. I tend to get started up, idle for about a minute or two and then I can gradually apply throttle. Carb issue getting fuel perhaps?
The only thing i've tried to remedy this issue thus far is to set the throttle to about 10-20% when starting warm, which has helped slightly.
Thanks for any help available. I would really like to be able to push off a sandbar, start up and get out of the way without just floating about for 5+ minutes or praying I don't bump into anything before I get started.
