Start engine with stator, wear ring, and impeller removed?

Title says it all. Is it ok to start the engine with the stator, wear ring, and impeller removed with a water hose hooked up and running?

I don't think I would do it. Without the support of the stator... the gears may not mesh correctly... and... the impeller shaft could sling around, and bend.
