starator and flywheel - Seadoo Sportser 1800 ok to run without?

stator - Seadoo Sportser 1800 ok to run without?

My stator is tore up and the flywheel magnets are broken.
I have a sedoo sportser 1800 1998 with twin 717's
I am looking for a replacement but also was wondering it's possible just to run it without the stator to get me in the water this weekend.

The stator is what charges the CDI. So... it's not going to run without it.

I was thinking the stator only charges the battery and the other motor would keep it charged.
Is this not the case?

Guys..... he has 720 engines.


The stator has 2 coils. One is the charging coil, the other is the HV coil for the CDI/Coil unit. IT WILL NOT RUN WITH THE STATOR REMOVED. The CDI is charged with a 300v pulse from the HV coils. the 720 and smaller engines are a true "MAG" system.


On an 800 or 951 engine... the "Stator" is a 3 phase alternator, and there is a separate pick-up for the ignition. AND... the CDI unit is a DC (12v) CDI. So... they can run on a 12v source.
