stalled while cruising & won't start

Was out in the boat today cruising at 6,000 rpms & engine stalled & shut off ( felt like lanyard popped off). Put boat in neutral, pulled lanyard & cleaned, put lanyard back on - gauges light up & cycle but no beeps & starter won't engage when button is pushed. Got a tow back to dock.

Once home: checked all fuses - Ok, cleaned lanyard again - same results as on water. I am noticing the fuel pump running consistently when lanyard is plugged in (never noticed before, but may have always been that way). Jumpered starter solenoid & starter turned over but didn't start. All fluids are fine.

Anyone have any ideas what to check or try?

No idea on the actual problem, but if you you broke a few mph while being towed and didn't clamp off the exhaust, might want to take to the shop to make sure you didn't ingest any water before turning it over again. Otherwise that could be a very expensive engine problem on top of what sounds like it might end up being an already expensive electric/computer problem.

Shifter neutral switch is made, by shifting into neutral?

I think it's strange fuel pump is running continuously, should just run for less than 3 seconds or so until engine is started? I'm assuming this boat is fuel injected type.

The boat is fuel injected 4 stroke. I haven't checked the neutral switch yet, but even if that was faulty - why would it cause the engine to die while cruising? Going to tear back into it tomarow & try burning a favor to get someone to hook it up to buds for me.

I’m not sure if this will help but I had my boat shut off on me last summer rather unexpectedly, exept mine would crank all day. My problem was the fuel pick up had cracked and was sucking air. I don’t know if it will help but it was super easy to check. Just pull the little access panel to the rear of the ski locker and the pump is right there, you have to unbolt it and it will pull straight out. Maybe it continues to pump because it’s not pumping anything but air. Just a thought and I may be wrong but it’s worth checking I guess. I attached a slide that I had sent someone else to help illustrate what I was talking about.

Went & burned a favor today, apparently it's all electrical. B.U.D.S couldn't interface with the onboard diagnostics - Tech thinks it's the panel under dash is faulty, but recommended I take it to an authorized Sea Doo dealer for repairs. Have plans to drop it off next week.

In the mean time I'm boat shopping - time to find me a good old fashioned center console with an outboard on it. I'm done with this seadoo for good, will get it fixed & then straight to craigslist with it.

Update - Engine had a bad wire coming from the stator. Apparently, over the last few seasons I missed a wiring connection when I did my maintenance to the boat. I boat exclusively in salt water so every 3 or 4 months I clean all electrical connections & die-electric grease them.

Ended up being a simple & cheap repair ($160). However, I did purchase a new boat while waiting for the shop to have time to fix this one (they were back logged for about 4 weeks). I purchased a 19ft Carolina Skiff Ultra Elite w/ a Yamaha 150. The new boat is awesome.

Now the Seadoo is up for sale. It's a 2003 w/ 108 hrs on it. Over the last 3 yrs I replaced the 1. Reverse cable & support gate 2. steering cable 3. Installed Solas Impeller. At the beginning of the season (15 hrs ago) boat got a full tune up & new wear ring.

I live in Venice, Fl. The boat is getting detailed next week & will be for sale locally for $6200 if anyone is interested in it.
