Squeezing into standard single garage

Does anybody wedge their boats in and out of a standard size single garage door (8 feet)? I'm looking at the '98 to '04 era speedsters with a 7'7" beam. With the trim on the door it looks like there would be a little over an inch on each side of clearance. I'm just wondering if anyone else does it regularly and if it's a nightmare or manageable. Thanks for the help.

I think you will need to take actual measurements, I doubt the garage entry is exactly 8 feet depending on how and what type of door was installed as they usually have some kind of trim and shim pieces?

And quite often the trailer wheels/rims/axles/fenders extend beyond the beam, depending on which trailer was fitted by the dealer or factory (or whomever, depending).

I move a lot of boats around daily and I can say for tight spaces you already know will fit you only need to watch one side while going straight through the entry (this method always works). And for that extra margin of safety sometimes it helps to lay a 4x4 on the ground at either side of the entry as a guide to help avoid scraping a fender.

We faced this very question last year with our new to us Utopia's first winter.

Having carefully measured our single car garage, there was no question in my mind or my math that any Speedster or (2000-2006) 18 foot Challanger (on its factory trailer) would fit very nicely into our single car garage for winter storage. We narrowed our boat search to a great looking Challenger, only to have my wife change her mind at the last minute and insist on an 04 Utopia instead!

Our garage is 20' deep with a 9' wide door and it opens to a height just over 6.5' or 79" and there are shelving units on both sides of garage. I made sure to get the height & width of the boat on the trailer from old brochures and verified they were correct before we bought.

The Utopia was bigger in every measurement than what I was sure would fit.
It did fit but it was a SQUEEZE and I have to kick the trailer toungue over 2inches to clear the bottom garage door handle so it can close without hitting the trailer!

I do not have the freezer in the picture anymore!

It fit. Was very tight. Picked up a Trailer Valet XL to help squeeze it in more carefully.
