im thinking about purchasing a spx believe its a 96. the engine turns over but wont start even with starting fluid so im assuming its not a fuel issue. there is a brown wire that is just sitting there not connected to anything and a connection that sits on top of the engine? im assuming that it goes there? but the connection doesnt fit (maybe missing or broken) can someone tell me what that brown wire is and or that connection on top of the engine. i searched the repair manual and found nothing. im hoping this is the cause of why its not starting. any help wound be greatly appreciated!

Welcome to the seadoo forum boombee. First thing is never use starting fluid on your seadoo. There is no lubrication value in it and it will seize it up quickly. Use some gas and the same oil from the oil injector tank and mix up some premix. Add a couple oz. to the cylinders. Be sure it has spark and the plugs are fresh. The battery should have a full charge too. Never jump start the battery from a running source as it will surge the electrical components and cause more problems. The brown wire is suppose to go the temp sensor on the cylinder head of the engine. It will beep if the engine gets over heated. If it has been sitting chances it needs the carbs cleaned and the gray fuel lines replaced as they deteriorate from the inside out and clog the carbs. If you have any other questions give us a shout. This is a friendly place with lots of active members eager to help out.
