sportster surging

Hi I have a 2004 sportster 4 tec.The last time out on the water it was surging not at idle but from about a quarter to half throttle.I noticed that my air intake silencer box has a fair size chunk of plastic missing from the lower half of the box.Is it possible for that to cause the surging?It runs fine at idle and the surge isnt a misfire or dead plug???

sounds like it's a very plausible cause to your surging problem....try closing off the lower half of the box with cardboard and duct tape and see if the problem goes away...if so either leave it or replace the stock airbox with an aftermarket air intake.

I like the carboard and duct tape idea,the cost of the oem one is in the 200 plus range seems a bit steep for a half of a empty plastic box.Any suggestions for aftermarket parts suppliers in Canada?

Dont buy any parts ect. in Canada unless you are willing to pay double...buy everything from the U.S
