Hi all,

I'm in the process of removing my engine, I've removed the airbox and carbs, I've removed the pump and drive shaft. Before I remove the engine mount bolts, I would like to know how to remove the exhaust if needed. From what I can see the exhaust looks like it may not need removing from the engine, however there is a rubber sheath at the end of the exhaust which is incredibly tight(see picture red circled bit). Or do I remove the last section as shown in the blue circle bit?

Also, do I need the alignment tool when I put it back? I do not see any shims on the engine mounts if that makes a difference?

Any help much appreciated.

It's up to you.

With a single engine... you can do it either way. regardless... it will be hard to get to some of the bolts.

As far as the hose... loosen the clamp... and once you start to lift the engine... wiggle it, and it will come apart.

Yes, you're supposed to use a drive shaft alignment fixture when installing the engine. If it was originally done correctly, you're reinstalling the same exact engine, and the hull hasn't changed shape, you might be able to get it close enough if you put all shims, etc back just as they came. I guess your spline joints will thank you if everything's straight.

Personally, I think going the route of using the alignment fixture is the way to go.

Thanks for the responses guys, not sure if I'll be able to find an alignment tool here in Cyprus...is it something one could make themselves?

I will give the wiggle and grease a try.
