Hi everyone!!
Right im new to these sea doo jet boats.. Ive owned a 5meter rib before but now i fancy one of these.
Basically ive put a deposit down on a seadoo sportster le di. Its a 2005 model. 130bhp rotax engine. Is there anything i need to look out for with it? The only things i could fault with it was the steering was mega stiff. But i think that might just need lubing up as it has been sat for 2 years. Also when he connected the hose up to it we could only run the engine for about a minute because then the overheat alarm came on? Surely it can be run for longer than that before it overheats?
Any advice would be much appreciated!
Cheers Gordon!

Running a seadoo boat on the hose won't tell you anything, on how well it's running. BUT... the over temp alarm should not have come on. Also... it's not good to run a rotax powered seadoo on the hose. It's very hard on the drivshaft seal, since it's cooled/lubed/stabilized by the lake water. So... unless you are running in salt water... there really isn't a reason to run it on the hose.

OK... with that out of the way... Before you buy it... take it out to the lake, and go for a real ride. Without a load on the engine... you don't know how it really runs. Also... there could be damage to the pump, and it will only show up during a water test.

And finally... the 951 Rotax engine isn't known for it's long life... and the Di fuel system can get very expensive of there are any problems.

Personally... I would stay away from the LE boat. If you like the 14.5' seadoo... find one with a carb engine. (or engines)

Ok that response has just put me off massively.. The boat has between 150-200 hours on it so im guessing theres not much life left in the engine? Im tempted to leave the deposit ive paid for it and save up a bit more and get the challenger? With the 2.5v6? Here is a link to the sportster on ebay. He accepted 4k for it. Do you think its worth that? It seemed tidy..
