Hi all, first post here but I have been soaking in all the knowledge from other members. I have a little (hopefully) issue with my sportster 4tec 155hp, it keeps over revving to 8000 rpm's. I checked the impeller and wear ring and it looks great. Plugs just replaced..... It will no even get on to plane. Almost like a burnt out clutch if that makes sense?? I did not suck anything up either as i know i would of felt it. Basically one minuted were tubing, we stop then throttled up again and the problem started. any help would be greatly appreciated.

If it goes no where but revs up high than you are cavitating. Check wear ring and prop. They could be damaged from something going through it.

I posted in your other thread.

Are you positive there wasnt something wedged in the impeller or wear ring? IF it was running fine and then you have the problem when you went to take off again, that sounds like some debris got in the impeller. Check it very closely. I have also seen other people com plain of the same thing and then they couldnt find anything, the next time on the water though everything is fine. Sometimes the bumpy ride home on the trailer is enough to jar debris loose.

Thanks so much for the replies. I'm positive that nothing is lodged in there. This happened yesterday, I also took it out today to give it another try. Clearance for the wear ring looks perfect..... When idling it runs perfect.... Could it be a pump issue?
