My Seadoo Sportster 1800 from 1999 is difficult to shift out of forward. I searched on this topic and did not come up with much.

When I was pulling the boat out of the water for storage I examined the linkage and I believe that my problems are related to some wear on the plastic piece # 271000583 where it contacts the little metal lever to release the lockout. I have the new part in hand and can see that there is a sharp edge that contacts the little lever, whereas the one on the boat is clearly warn down in this area. I won't be installing the new part until next summer as the boat is now in Winter storage. I'll try to post an update next season if replacing this part worked.

The part you have circled, is just the lever. The catch and base are the parts that normally wear.

Regardless.... a lot of times... hosing it all down with a good Si oil, will loosen it.

You might also want to check the cable condition I had one that stuck pretty good in certain positions a new cable fixed it right up.
