Sportster 150 in salt water? (and other questions).

I'm a bit confused by the official SeaDoo stance on their Sportster 150 when used in salt water. They seem to say it's OK as long as you pull the boat every 10 hours and flush out the cooling system, but I gotta say if I buy one it's going to sit in the water for a week or so at a time, and I'm unlikely to pay $200 to pull and splash it very frequently, and the rinsing procedure seems fraught with peril itself.

They do seem to have sacrificial anodes for corrosion protection, is their official stance just a CYA or warranty-voiding excuse, or are the boats not really suitable for salt water?

Thanks for any thoughts!

First of all you should never leave your seadoo in the water for any extended length of time...like overnight might ok but not for a week. Growth is gonna happen in the cooling lines and maybe cause cooling problem in the exhaust system. You really don't need to flush in Fresh water ...just in salt water. Common sense is a good thing when it comes to leaving your seadoo in the salt water for any length of time...You should keep a close eye on it and flush with fresh water often if you can while it is running.

I agree with Karl :agree: Not only is your boat not bottom painted with anti-fouling paint your cooling system will not like the salt water exposure. Remember, one of the most corrosive substances to man is salt water. Again, depending on where you are boating you will see marine growth on the hull surfaces in a weeks time as well unless you jump in and wipe the hull down each day.

OK, so I need to add one of those drive-on docks to the package, are there clear preferences between the different manufacturers? So far I've found:

Jet-Dock
EZ-Dock

However, $5-6K additional for a special dock isn't going to go over well with the CFO... 8*)

Thanks for the feedback, guys!
