so I just put a new powerhead in my challenger. not sure why it blew up but plastic oil pump gear was definitely in two pieces when i split the block. anyway I am trying to remember one last piece to the puzzle before I run it. There is a cable that seems to go from the steering to the throttle/ or oil pump. like if it is steered all the way either way it adds more oil?? dont remember how this hooks up on motor.. the way I have it hooked up now the cable never gets tight. Any help or pictures would be great! U have a feeling either it isnt hooked up right on the motor or there is a problem that I didnt know about.
Thanks Brendan

Welcome.

That little cable hooks to the throttle linkage, and adds a little throttle when you turn. I don't know if it's possible or not... but it could have come loose from the steering in the helm. SO... if you have it hooked to the engine... get to the steering box, and check it there.

Now... as far as why the engine gave up.... if the oil gear broke... that would be the reason. Was the gear broke, or did the bolt break? Did you take a pic by any chance?

It must have came loose at the helm. at the motor I have the end of the cable hooked to a little plastic piece. but turning the wheel either way never gets tight enough to activate it on the motor

Im not sure what happened with plastic gear, it was in two when i took the block apart.. looked like it was broke where one of the bolts holds it together.

Where did you get the power head?

There have been a number of threads about the failure of the oil injection pump leading to expensive repairs.

The old one blew up because of the gear (i think) I have not ran the new OBR powerhed yet. need to put in one plug that i forgot in the block and i was trying to figure out this cable. also i did put a new oil pump on it.
