Got tired of taking on and off my ski mirror on my 99 speedster when I put on the cover. I modified the ski mirror I bought from Cabelas. It's a great mirror for the price and let's me see the kids behind. Kinda a pain to take on and off.
I removed the the clamps that go over the windscreen and left the brackets that hold the rod. Using the existing hardware that attached the clamps to the brackets I drilled two holes and mounted the brackets under the windscreen. Next I ran the rod through "leave the brackets a little loose when doing this" and then tightened up the screw once I had the rod centered. Took a file to the tops of the screws to smooth out the edges and painted to match.
Loosen the clamps and drop the mirror down when the cover goes on.
Great little mod that will save me time taking on and off the mirror and keep it always where it works best
