Hello again all.
In my search for a sea doo jet boat I came across a 99 speedster SK that looks pretty sharp. I havent looked at it in person but plan to soon. When looking online at this model it appears there is an enclosed bow and an open bow version. Is this correct? Or does the cowling come up to reveal the seat in the bow?
Can anyone who has one of these give me any feedback? I have owned a 97 speedster which is a bit smaller and I loved it. I do like the looks of the 99 though.

Thanks

Well... you sort of have it right. the "SK" was the ski version of the 16' boat. AND... it had the big ski locker on the front. It also had two 720 engines. (just like your 14.5' speedster had) SO... same power... same 4 person capacity, but a bigger heavier hull.

Now... there was a regular 16' speedster with a bow seat, and it has two 800 engine. That's a nice boat. Has room for 5 people, and an extra 40 hp.

Personally... the SK was kind of a waist of room, and the 4 individual seats makes it not a very "Social" boat. You can't just park, relax, and BS with your buddies. At least in the 14.5' boats... you can get up, and stretch out a little.

Got ya. So the SK has the ski locker. The reg speedster does not. I'm not too concerned about room. I just want something fun to play around with. Thanks for the clarification.

Its funny, I actually have a 1997 Speedster 14 AND just bought a 1999 SK. I can tell you, I love the front storage but also wish I had more power. That said, I always wish I had more power in pretty much everything I own. I just needed a boat for my wife and I and every once in a while one or two friends. My buddy has a full blown wake boat and we just wanted a boat that handled the chop a bit better and had some storage for when we wanted to get out and chill when we aren't out on his boat. We always seemed to have crap everywhere on out 14"and the storage is pretty damn cool on the 16"...but really, if you aren't going to use the front storage it would make sense to go with the regular 16 and the 787's.

I have the non sk version and love it. It has tons of power and pretty comfortable for 4 people. I don't use that bow set really, but it's nice to have the spot for moving around and climbing in and out and stuff like that. I still have tons of storage. You have the big ski locker in the floor. To me, i prefer the non SK version, mostly for the bigger engines. But it's hard to come across a good deal on these sometimes so you might need to jump on why you can find.
