Hey Everyone,

This weekend I was standing in the boat and another boaters wake was coming so I braced the back of my legs against the seat and the next thing I know the bottom seat cushion came completely removed from the darts. The darts are still stuck in the hole of the boat hull.

I have a couple of questions, Do I just pull out the darts from the top with pliers and then try to reuse them? Is is better to just order 3 new darts at $6 each + shipping? I see that some people have used Velcro and that actually seems like a good idea.....what is the downside to that option?

Look forward to hearing everyone's opinions.

With my speedster the seat base sits in pretty snug without any fastners, so I've just used the velcro method. This was the same on my old speedster. I'm not sure how the seat base sits "unfastened" in your boat but if velcro works I would recommend that.

It actually sits pretty good without any fasteners, so I may try using Velcro. Any particular brand that you found works better than others?

I would go get the darts. You can't reuse them once they are pulled from the hole. I would bite the bullet and go by 3 darts and fasten the seats back as Velcro does not last long.

I have actually been able to reuse the darts. They are a real pain to get out, but as long as they come out without breaking they should go back in and be fine. To get them out I usually use a pair of pliers that will fit into the notch on the top of the dart. Then using a piece of wood or something as a fulcrum, just pry them out vertical. You can also spray a bit of oil in the whole with might help.

To reinstall, just set the darts into the holes under the seat and push the seat down to set the darts.

I used a door panel puller that I had for removing door panels to install speakers. They use "Darts" as well. I was able to get them out wihtout breaking. I would say that some of the fins of the darts are not as 'full" near the top. I am going to try and reuse them along with several pieces of 3M weather resistant hook and loop product that I got at Wal-Mart. The 3M stuff is supposed to be water resistant and last 3 times as long as Heavy Duty Velcro. We shall see.
