Speedster pushing fuel out the vent

2000 Speedster is just hitting the water for the first time this year and we noticed that it is pumping fuel out the vent line during operation. Someone said to try taking the cap off and that seems to make it better, but we can't run around like that all of the time. I had a shade tree mechanic look at the fuel system and while he found a cracked t fitting which he fixed, everything else seemed normal. He said he found a check valve, blew it out, and it seemed OK. This check valve seems a little suspicious to me. I have read other posts where it says to check that the lines are hooked up properly but nothing changed over the winter as far as they are concerned. Any suggestions?

I would verify that all the vent tubes are OK. I think your's only has one... but make sure the return hose to the tank isn't kinked or blocked.

Does your boat have a cap with a vent? Or is a flush mount style?

There is only one vent line that I am aware of, the one with the checkvalve in it. I assume it isn't clogged or the fuel couldn't come out of it. I think that the guy working on it did blow some air out of there. As for the cap, it isn't flush, and doesn't have a vent. Just a screw on to the outside of the boat. I'll ask him to take another look at the return line to the tank.

Thanks
